About Krabi and Koh Lanta

Krabi province on Thailand's Andaman coast is famous for limestone cliffs, clear water, and easy access to islands such as Phi Phi, Hong Island, and local four-island loops. Koh Lanta sits within this network of beaches, piers, and national park zones, making it practical for both short holidays and week-long stays. Infrastructure has improved steadily — ATMs, mini-marts, clinics, and tour counters are common — yet the region still feels more relaxed than busier beach hubs.

Check In Krabi publishes guides, hotel lists, restaurant picks, and public place notes to help visitors compare options before they book. Always cross-check ferry times, park fees, and national holiday crowds because conditions change by season. Respect marine parks: avoid single-use plastic on boats, do not stand on coral, and follow staff instructions during snorkeling stops.

Our stay was great at Royal Lanta. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We stayed in a garden view bungalow and it was great size, clean and we had no problems.

The only small gripes was that the shower head was fixed in a pretty weird angle. Also the doors to the balcony was a latch lock only on the inside which made it hard to have the door closed all the way when spending time on the balcony.

Many reviewers complain that Royal Lanta is old, and I can understand some complains, for example; the spa is out of service for the time being, so there is no spa services. The gym is a few old machines and it's a stretch to even call it a gym. The ocean side pool (there are two pool areas) was clean but some tiles was missing and the area around the pool feels a bit outdated. Would be great to see a small playground for all the kids and also a few more sunbeds and parasols. Small things but it would be great.

The other pool area feels much newer and the size is great. It's also a bit more secluded which makes it a bit more quite.

That said, the overall experience was very warm and welcoming. We would definitely like to come back!

The perfect vacation! This beachfront resort is peaceful and has an incredible view. The rooms are clean and stylish, but the highlight is definitely the service. The staff are so lovely, especially Khun Nut (the manager), who personally made sure we had everything we needed. It felt like staying with a friend! Thanks for a wonderful trip. Don't miss out on this place!

This was our second stay at Royal Lanta Resort, now with our 5-year-old son, and we still really enjoy it.

We love the beautiful nature paths and the classic Thai-style buildings — the resort has a peaceful, charming atmosphere. We’ve stayed both in the beach villas (which are lovely) and in the buildings near the second pool. Those are simpler in style but have a practical European layout with very comfortable, large beds that easily fit two adults and a small child.

It’s great to have direct beach access, and the location is very convenient with several good restaurants nearby as well as 7-Eleven and Big C within walking distance.

The breakfast buffet is very good — we just missed bacon this time

A great, family-friendly place we’re happy to return to.

Very nice stay. Especially when traveling with children. Close to the beach. Areas around the property could need Some maintenance though. Staff were very pleasant. Overall very good for a stay at klong dao beach.

The only nice thing about this hotel is the location. It is located right next to the beach. I’m usually not one to complain and this is the first time I have ever written a review for a hotel, but my experience with the room of this hotel is HORRIBLE. First, when you look at images of the hotel online, the rooms look very beautiful. However, only the villas look like that. I booked a superior room for 3 nights. The room itself is old and outdated. That I can accept, but the fact that the room had a musty smell while housekeeping had supposedly just cleaned it and that the bathroom was dirty is unacceptable considering I paid more than €90 per night. Ko Lanta is a bit more of an expensive island but the price of this room considering you get an old, outdated room that is dirty is not okay. I informed reception right away after I saw the dirty bathroom and they told me they would send someone to clean it again. However, upon returning to my room, the bathroom was still dirty and I discovered even more things that were not clean. Now as I’m about to go to sleep, I see that the sheets on the bed have yellow stains. I have traveled a lot and been to many types of hotels, but this is the worst hotel experience I have had so far! It also attracts a lot of families with young children who are shouting at the pool area the whole time so do not hope to find peace here…
